序數前面要加 the 來表達中文的第(幾?)；序數的表示以尾數為主。

例如~ 第53 = 讀成 the fifty-third = 可以寫成 53rd

日期：What date?

The twenty-third of March / The 23rd of March

或  March 23 (寫數字，但要讀成序數)

樓層：Which floor?  On the sixth floor.

名次或順序：number 1 = the top 1 = the first

I am the first one.  我是第一個

First的相反詞就是Last：I am the last one. 我是最後一個

First除了代表第一，也有「先」的意思：you go first = after you 您先請(走/過)
